 digital literacy program 2 1

When it comes to creating a great future for today’s kids, few things are more important than digital literacy. When we found out the Marin County Free Library had an amazing plan for a new community outreach program to teach important digital skills, NCA got involved!

When it comes to discovering the world and connecting with others, a computer is a versatile tool. To get the most from it, though, kids need to learn the ropes. NCA experts helped the library set up a new server and terminals for the program, which teaches:

  • Functional skills
  • Critical thinking and evaluation
  • Internet safety
  • Effective communication
  • Cultural and social understanding
  • The ability to find and select information
  • Creativity
  • Collaboration

The program is available to middle and high school students and made its debut Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons this past April. By participating, NCA was proud to join a number of other community-focused sponsors including the Performing Stars of Marin, a nonprofit that helps enrich the lives of local underprivileged youth.

NCA Helps Support the Communities Where We Do Business

Before the Youth Digital Literacy Program opened its doors, NCA experts were on hand to make sure the students would have all the resources they needed for an educational and enjoyable experience. With help from library volunteers, kids will have the opportunity to master the core computer skills they’ll use in their higher learning endeavors and for the rest of their lives.

Here at NCA, we believe everyone has a part to play in making the community stronger. Our families, friends, and neighbors are right here, and we believe in giving back so everyone has the chance to succeed. By partnering with the Marin County Free Library and Performing Stars of Marin, we’re looking forward to making a positive difference for local kids for many years to come.
