To our loyal clients,
Being informed is important and I appreciate this opportunity to speak with you regarding the recent announcement of the ShoreTel acquisition by Mitel Networks Corporation. As we were the first partner of ShoreTel many years ago, helping them develop their go to market strategies, this news is as important to us as it is to you. I would like to begin to share some of the early highlights that came from a recent conversation I had with a senior Mitel executive.
Over the next short period, I hope to convey the most relevant points of that conversation with you. When an announcement like this makes the news, it’s nice to find people you can count on, people you can trust to distill the truth.
As you may or may not know, there has been talk about the potential for Mitel involvement and interest for some time now. ShoreTel has become a leader in the emerging UC space and was an attractive play for the right kind of consolidation. Mitel recognized this early and now the acquisition closed on September 25th of this week.
What I have recently learned, is that clearly the combined company name going forward will be Mitel. You will see the move to the Mitel name and brand on day one. The beloved orange and ShoreTel logos will be going away, but not the offerings or support that you have become accustom to. Mitel has learned through experience, and watching others in the same position, that this allows room for continued opportunities for additional acquisitions. Earlier last month Mitel acquired Toshiba UC Systems and moved quickly to the Mitel logo with success.
Rich McBee, the current CEO of Mitel, will be at the helm. They will be aligning the proper management teams globally from both companies and I am told that it will have an even mix. You will be hearing from Rich, in the media and on the Mitel web-site, updating the market on a regular basis. Right now, equal amounts of sales teams will remain and they believe approximately 90% of the two companies will remain in place. Of course, there will be folks that do not move on with the new company and they will be respected and missed.
Although not always the case, financials markets like the combination of these leaders and see the future as very bright with the combined set of unique resources. Both company’s strategies are highly aligned allowing the combined entity to be able to deliver faster than either company could on their own. Today, change and consolidation is expected in the communications industry and now Mitel is the #2 company in the UCaaS space in North America in terms of revenue volume. Combined focus will be loyalty to both installed client bases while defining what the customer of the future is looking for. With that strategy, the ShoreTel base is just as important to Mitel as their existing base.
I will be sending out updates as we hear about them, or as they are shared with NCA to make it easier to follow the integration of these two fine companies. Thank you for your continued business and support.
