TOPIC: The Private Sector's Role in Combating Cyber Crime
ROOM: Larch 3:00PM - 3:45PM

The explosive growth of the Internet and electronic commerce has led to a comparable increase in computer-related crimes. These computer, or cyber, crimes include intrusions and denial of service attacks, Internet fraud, identity theft, software piracy and intellectual property theft, child pornography, and a range of other crimes that exploit the new technologies of this Information Age. Commercial and privately owned systems and networks are increasingly the target of such criminal activity, often resulting in significant losses. What should you do if you or your company is the victim of a cyber crime? Who do you contact for assistance and what response should you expect? What is the private sector's role in addressing this growing threat of cyber crime? The FBI has developed a national strategy in response to such questions and this presentation will elaborate on how that strategy can help you and your company.
