Our Changing World - Don't Get Left Behind
Carlos Dominguez, Senior Vice President Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO Cisco Systems, Inc.

If you think a lot has changed in the way we work already, prepare yourself.  As Carlos tells us, a typical business in three years will look completely different than it does today.  Think about it. No new business today gets started without a Web presence, and in a few years, many companies will conduct business solely on the Web (as some already do). Instead of designing and marketing products themselves, companies will have their customers do it. This is just one example of collaboration, and Carlos will talk about why collaboration is so important and driving innovation.   One factor driving collaboration are the millenials or Generation Y. People in the 20s are entering the workforce enmasse and wanting to use the same online tools, and technology, at work that they use at home.    Carlos will also talk about the importance of video today including why YouTube works so well and how Cisco, and our customers, are using TelePresence to save millions of dollars in travel expenses.    These are exciting times and with change comes opportunity.

Carlos Dominguez is a Senior Vice President in Cisco’s Office of the Chairman and CEO, John Chambers. His close relationships with worldwide communications providers, including cable, mobile operators and content providers give him a unique perspective on how the internet is changing, and how technology and trends such as video and social networking are impacting our lives at work and at home.

Dominguez has been with Cisco since 1992. He has played a key role in multiple segments of the company’s business and most recently led its service provider business. From 2004 to 2008, he led Cisco’s Worldwide Service Provider Operations group, playing a key role in building the strategy for the businesses and doubling service provider sales from $3.7 billion to $7.7 billion. Service providers now represent approximately 46 percent of Cisco’s overall business.

Before becoming a senior vice president, Dominguez was Vice President for U.S. Service Provider Sales, leading the sales teams for all U.S. communications providers. He grew the business from $500 million to over $2.5 billion. Prior to that, he led Cisco’s enterprise line of business in the northeastern United States and established Cisco in a number of strategic markets such as financial services in New York City, media, government and pharmaceuticals.

Prior to joining Cisco, Dominguez held management positions at Timeplex, Inc. in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, and at New Jersey Bell/Bell Atlanticom in Newark, New Jersey.

Recently he was named one of the top 50 Hispanic executives in the United States by Hispanic Engineering and Information Technology magazine. He serves on the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools of New Jersey, a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping high risk children in school; NACME (National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering); and the YMCA of Greater New York.
